According to the Spanish Fork Police Department, the collision occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 6 and Spanish Fork Parkway when several vehicles were stopped at a red light.

A pickup truck pulling a horse trailer was traveling west on Highway 6 when it crashed into the line of stopped vehicles from behind, triggering a chain reaction of impacts.

One Fatality, Multiple Injuries

Two people in the struck vehicles were taken to a nearby hospital. One of them — an 85-year-old woman — later died from her injuries, police said.

Other individuals involved in the crash suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.

Officials also reported that one of the four horses inside the trailer sustained a broken leg.

Highway Closed for Hours During Investigation

Following the crash, authorities shut down Highway 6 in both directions between Spanish Fork Parkway and Canyon Road for several hours as crews cleared debris and investigated the cause of the collision.

The identity of the woman who died has not yet been released, pending family notification.

Police have not said whether speed, impairment, or mechanical failure contributed to the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
