Around 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, police responded to reports that three girls had jumped from the balcony of their high-rise apartment. The victims were identified as sisters Nishika (16), Prachi (14), and Pakhi (12). Some reports also name the eldest as Vishika, as per NDTV.
Police confirmed that all three girls were the daughters of Chetan Kumar. Authorities believe the sisters jumped one after the other and left behind an eight-page note addressed to their parents in a diary.
Possible Link to Online Gaming and Korean Culture
According to reports from NDTV and the Press Trust of India (PTI), the girls were deeply involved in an online game and were said to be fascinated by Korean culture. The contents of the note suggest the girls had a strong emotional attachment to a particular Korean-themed online game that involved completing various tasks.
Their father, Chetan Kumar, told PTI that his daughters had been playing the game for almost three years and had not attended school during that time. “They often said they wanted to go to Korea,” he said, adding that their screen time and phone use increased during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Denied Phone Access Before Tragedy
In the days leading up to the incident, the sisters were reportedly denied access to their mobile phone, which appears to have affected them emotionally. Deputy Commissioner of Police Nimish Patel stated that while no specific game has yet been identified, it’s clear that the girls were influenced by aspects of Korean digital culture and content.
Father Speaks Out After Daughters’ Death
Chetan Kumar, heartbroken by the loss of his children, said he was unaware of the dangerous influence the game had on them. “This should not happen to any parent or child,” he told NDTV. “I was not aware of the game, or I would have never let them play it.”

Police are still investigating the case and have not confirmed any direct link between the game and the tragic deaths. The online content and the girls’ phone activity are being examined to understand what may have pushed them to take such a drastic step.
