SALT LAKE CITY – Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will experience a slightly different schedule this year as Easter weekend coincides with the Church’s 196th Annual General Conference, which is scheduled for April 4 and 5, 2026. In light of this, the Church has made special adjustments to its usual worship meetings.
Palm Sunday to Feature a One-Hour Sacrament Meeting
Typically, Church members attend a two-hour block of Sunday meetings, which includes a sacrament meeting followed by smaller, age or gender-based classes. However, on special occasions like Christmas or Easter, this schedule is shortened to a one-hour sacrament meeting only, focused on remembering Jesus Christ.
This year, since General Conference will be held on Easter weekend, there will be no regular Sunday meetings on April 5. To make sure members still have a chance to partake of the sacrament that week, the Church has announced that Palm Sunday, March 29, will include a one-hour sacrament meeting instead — unless a stake conference (a larger regional meeting) has already been scheduled.
Annual General Conference Schedule
The 196th Annual General Conference will be broadcast worldwide on:
- Saturday, April 4
- Morning Session: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Afternoon Session: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Sunday, April 5
- Morning Session: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Afternoon Session: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
There will be no Saturday evening session, continuing the updated conference format adopted in recent years.
A Time to Reflect and Invite Others
In their official message, the First Presidency encouraged members to take this unique timing as an opportunity to reflect more deeply on the Savior’s Atonement and Resurrection.
“Easter, general conference, and Palm Sunday are wonderful opportunities to commemorate the Savior’s Atonement and Resurrection. We encourage all to invite friends, family, and neighbors to join in these worship services of our Savior, Jesus Christ,” the statement read.
The message reflects the Church’s ongoing emphasis on strengthening faith in Jesus Christ and inviting others to learn more about His teachings.
How Members Can Participate
Invite family, friends, or neighbors to participate — whether in person for sacrament or by sharing a conference link.
Attend your local congregation’s one-hour sacrament meeting on Palm Sunday (March 29), unless your ward or stake has other scheduled meetings.
Watch or listen to General Conference on April 4 and 5 via the Church’s website, mobile apps, YouTube channel, or other broadcast channels.
