Oopsy! The Pierce County voter pamphlet is missing a page. Here's a plan for fixing it

Voters in the Tacoma, Franklin Pierce, and White River school districts will receive a new voter pamphlet for the upcoming Feb. 10 special election after a printing error occurred in the original copy. The misprint caused the second proposition for each of these school districts to be excluded, while the first proposition was printed twice.

The Issue

The error was caused by the county’s printing vendor, who inadvertently omitted the second proposition for the three school districts on the ballot.

This pamphlet misprint affected voters in these districts, as well as voters across Pierce County, which has 15 school districts in total. Ten of these districts have tax measures on the ballot, primarily focused on replacement levies to fund essential operations like technology and other district costs.

Resolution

To address the issue, county officials announced that the corrected pamphlet page will be mailed to voters on January 26. Voters can expect to receive the updated information starting January 27. The updated pamphlet will contain the missing second proposition for the affected school districts.

Clarification

Officials assured voters that the misprint did not affect the ballots themselves. “Ballots were not affected,” the release states. “We sincerely apologize for the confusion and we appreciate your understanding.”

Voters are encouraged to review the corrected pamphlet once received to ensure they have accurate information for the upcoming election.
