A 21-year-old Spanaway man has been identified as the victim of a deadly shooting in what officials believe may have been a road-rage incident in Pierce County last week.
Victim Identified as Alexander Jay Richardson III
The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Alexander Jay Richardson III died on January 30 after being shot in the chest. His death has officially been ruled a homicide.
Crash and Shooting Incident
Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 16100 block of Military Road East at around 10:16 p.m. after a vehicle crashed into a tree. When deputies and nearby residents reached the car, they found Richardson inside with a gunshot wound.
Despite efforts to help him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Possible Road-Rage Connection
According to a statement shared by the Sheriff’s Office on Facebook, investigators believe the shooting may be connected to a road-rage incident that started earlier on 22nd Avenue East. However, no suspects have been arrested so far.
Investigation Still Ongoing
Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Deputy Carly Cappetto said the investigation is still active, and detectives are working on several leads. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.
This tragic case has left a family mourning and a community shaken, as detectives continue searching for answers.
