Woman in Critical Condition After Being Shot Many Times in Front of Her One-Year-Old Son on Christmas Eve

A woman in her 20s is recovering in a London hospital after a terrifying shooting inside her home on Christmas Eve, while her 1-year-old son was present but miraculously unharmed. The Metropolitan Police are now urgently searching for two suspects who remain at large more than two weeks after the attack.

Shooting Shocks Peckham Community

The incident occurred around 10:50 p.m. on December 24, 2025, in Peckham, a residential area in South London. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and, upon arrival, found the woman with multiple gunshot wounds. She was rushed to the hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition and spent Christmas in critical care.

As of January 10, she remains hospitalized, but her condition is no longer described as life-threatening.

The woman’s 1-year-old child was inside the home during the attack but was not physically injured. Authorities have not released the mother’s identity, but the situation has been described by police as a “shocking act of violence” in a family setting.

How the Attack Happened

According to police, two men approached the woman’s front door and began firing through it just seconds later. Authorities believe seven shots were fired, striking the woman behind the door. After the attack, the suspects fled the scene, heading from Cronin Street toward Commercial Way.

Both suspects were wearing dark clothing:

  • One wore a gray hooded top and is believed to have been carrying the firearm.
  • The other wore a dark-colored hooded top.

Detectives believe the shooting was deliberate, but it is still unclear whether the woman was the intended target or if the attack may have been a case of mistaken identity.

Police Appeal for Public Help

Detective Inspector Jordan Gardner called the incident “a shocking act of violence” and stressed the urgency of tracking down the gunmen.

“This was a family home, and a young child was inside when shots were fired. We must bring those responsible to justice,” said Gardner.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area between 9:45 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. on Christmas Eve to come forward. They’re especially interested in:

  • Eyewitnesses who may have seen two men acting suspiciously
  • Footage from doorbell cameras, CCTV, or dash-cams near Cronin Street, Commercial Way, or Moody Road

No arrests have been made yet, and officers continue to urge residents to check any surveillance footage they may have from the night of the attack, no matter how minor the detail may seem.
