A Texas woman, Aralyn Martinez, 24, has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly throwing a 25-pound weight plate at someone her partner was involved with. The incident took place at a 24 Hour Fitness gym in Spring, Texas, on January 6, 2026.
Incident Details
According to a press release from the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 Office, deputies arrived at the scene to find that Martinez had assaulted the victim inside the gym after recognizing them as someone her partner was involved with. Martinez is accused of intentionally and knowingly threatening the victim with imminent bodily harm by using the 25-pound weight plate as a deadly weapon.
Assault Caught on Video
A charging document reviewed by PEOPLE states that Martinez threatened the victim before the attack, saying, “Bitch, I’m going to drop this plate on you.” She then allegedly threw the plate at the victim’s head. The incident was reportedly caught on cell phone video, and although the victim was able to move out of the way in time and avoid injury, the assault could have been much worse.
Intervention and Arrest

After the altercation, Martinez left the gym, but she was arrested on January 7, 2026, after authorities reviewed the video footage. She was booked into the Harris County Jail and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a felony.

Martinez was released from jail after posting a $1,000 bond. According to an amended order for pretrial supervision and bond conditions, alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the offense, as suggested by the facts giving rise to probable cause.
