Most people enjoy a good buffet once in a while. For Adam Boswell of Layton, Utah, it’s a lifestyle. His passion for the local buffet chain Chuck-A-Rama led him on a wild culinary challenge — to eat at all 11 locations across Utah and Idaho in just 24 hours.

The idea began when a friend mentioned the restaurant’s new breakfast menu. Boswell, a longtime fan who celebrates every birthday at Chuck-A-Rama, decided to push his buffet devotion to the limit. “I thought, if I start at 8 o’clock in the morning, I think I can do all of these in one day,” he said. Thus began what he called Chuck Rally 2025.

The Buffet Marathon

Boswell assembled a crew of friends and family — including his sons, brothers, nephews, and brother-in-law — and hit the road in a motorhome early Saturday, October 3. The journey started in St. George, where the group enjoyed a full breakfast to kick off their mission. From there, they headed north through Provo, Lehi, Draper, Murray, South Ogden, Logan, Idaho Falls, and finally Boise.

At every stop, the rule was simple: “You had to have a plate.” Whether it was a full meal or just an ice cream cone, each location required a taste test.

Corporate Support and Community Excitement

When Boswell contacted Chuck-A-Rama management to ask for a small discount on the 11 meals, CEO Neil Hartford personally reached out — not only to support the adventure but to cover all meals and provide branded shirts. Staff at each location organized mini celebrations as Boswell’s group arrived.

“They brought the entire staff out and had air horns. People were hooting and hollering,” Boswell recalled. “We even had kids show up with signs that said, ‘We love Chuck-A-Rama.’”

The Struggle and the Spirit

By the sixth location, Boswell admitted that the group was slowing down. “By the time we got to Logan, I was as full as I could possibly be,” he said. Yet, he kept going — fueled by laughter, road-trip adrenaline, and chocolate milk.

After 17 hours on the road, the team reached Boise for a final breakfast celebration. Despite the exhaustion, Boswell described the trip as one of the most memorable experiences of his life.

“It really turned into a cool experience,” he said. “If it’s not fun, don’t do it — that’s my philosophy now.”

Beyond the Buffet

Boswell’s adventure wasn’t just about food — it was about joy and connection. After completing the marathon, he texted his family asking if anyone wanted to meet him back at Chuck-A-Rama for lunch. No one took him up on the offer, but Boswell says he’ll be back soon for his usual — a salad, a piece of chicken, a Diet Mountain Dew, and an ice cream cone.
