A late-night work break at an Amazon fulfillment center in Far West Bexar County, Texas, turned deadly when a planned fistfight escalated into a fatal shooting. Now, two young men are facing first-degree murder charges, and a family is mourning the loss of a father and husband whose life was cut short by senseless violence.
What Happened Outside the Amazon Fulfillment Center
The incident took place just before 10 p.m. on Sunday in the parking lot of Amazon’s facility off U.S. Highway 90 West. According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at the scene to find two men shot. The victims were later identified as:
- Katrael Delosier, who later died from his injuries
- Johnny Bermea III, who survived and was listed in stable condition
Investigators said the shooting was the result of a planned fight that spiraled out of control.
What Led to the Shooting
According to an arrest affidavit, the situation began earlier that evening with an argument between an Amazon employee (whose name has not been released) and Johnny Bermea. The two men allegedly had ongoing issues dating back to high school.
The Amazon employee claimed Bermea confronted him about “talking s***” and challenged him to fight during a break. While the initial confrontation didn’t become physical, the men agreed to settle the dispute later that evening.
But instead of a one-on-one fight, the Amazon employee contacted his friends for “backup,” believing the fight might turn dangerous. He said Bermea claimed to have a “Drake” in his vehicle — slang for a firearm — which prompted him to call Jamari McKillion, 21, and David Perez Morales Jr., 20.
The Deadly Moment
According to witness accounts and surveillance footage:
- The Amazon employee led Bermea into the parking lot during their break
- As they neared a vehicle where the employee’s friends were waiting, a man exited the vehicle and began firing shots
- Delosier and Bermea were both hit.
- The shooter and driver fled the scene
Authorities believe:
- Morales was the shooter
- McKillion was the driver of the vehicle involved
Both were later arrested and charged with first-degree felony murder. McKillion was taken into custody the following day at another Amazon facility in San Antonio. His car was also seized as part of the investigation.
Victim Katrael Delosier: A Life Cut Short
Katrael Delosier was not one of the men involved in the original argument. His family says he was caught in the crossfire.
Delosier leaves behind a wife and two young sons. He had recently graduated from college with plans to work as a mechanic and was in the process of buying a home for his family. His death has left loved ones devastated.
“He was a dedicated father and a good man,” his brother shared.
Amazon’s Response
In a public statement, Amazon expressed heartbreak over the tragedy:
“We’re heartbroken by the tragic loss of a valued member of our team and are keeping the victim’s family and loved ones in our thoughts.”
The company has since:
- Increased on-site security
- Offered counseling services to employees
- Continued to cooperate with law enforcement
Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation
McKillion and Morales are both being held on $300,000 bond. It’s still unclear whether the Amazon employee who arranged the meet-up or led the victims to the suspect vehicle will face charges.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and more details could emerge as they continue to gather evidence.
