RIVERDALE, Utah — Utah shoppers can officially mark their calendars — the long-awaited Trader Joe’s in Riverdale will open its doors this Friday, October 24, 2025, the company announced Tuesday night.
The new store, located at 4060 S. Riverdale Road, will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:55 a.m., with doors opening to customers at 9 a.m. According to a company statement, the Riverdale store will employ more than 70 local workers, supplemented by experienced staff members from other Trader Joe’s locations across the state.
The new location marks Trader Joe’s sixth Utah store, joining existing shops in Cottonwood Heights, Draper, Orem, and Salt Lake City — where the grocer already operates stores in Sugar House and near 400 South and 600 East.
Expansion Continues Across Utah
The Riverdale announcement is part of Trader Joe’s broader expansion in the Beehive State. The company recently confirmed two additional Utah stores in development:
- A Herriman location, revealed last week after the city shared the news on Facebook.
- A Holladay location, which became public in May after receiving an off-premises beer retailer license from the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services and was officially confirmed by Trader Joe’s in July.
Riverdale’s Turn in the Spotlight
Riverdale Mayor Brent Taylor first announced the new store last December, and Trader Joe’s confirmed it in June. Excitement has been building ever since, with local residents eager for their own neighborhood Trader Joe’s — known for its affordable gourmet items, specialty snacks, and signature products like “Everything But The Bagel” seasoning and frozen orange chicken.
The company said it is “thrilled to bring the Trader Joe’s experience to Riverdale” and emphasized its commitment to local hiring and community engagement.
With the new Riverdale store opening this week and two more on the way, Trader Joe’s will soon operate eight locations statewide, underscoring Utah’s growing appeal for national retailers catering to expanding suburban and family markets.
