Singer-songwriter Todd Snider has canceled his remaining 2025 tour dates after an incident in Salt Lake City that led to both an injury claim and an arrest. The situation has evolved rapidly, with new details raising questions about what occurred in the hours before his scheduled performance.

The Commonwealth Room, where Snider was set to perform on November 1, initially announced the show was postponed due to “injuries sustained in an incident,” without offering specifics. Shortly after, Snider’s team released a statement saying he had been the victim of a “violent assault” outside his hotel, leading to “severe injuries” and forcing him to withdraw from his High, Lonesome and Then Some Tour.

However, police and local officials have since provided information that adds complexity to the situation.

According to reporting from KSL.com, Snider later went to a local hospital claiming he had been assaulted. After being treated and medically cleared for discharge, hospital staff told police that Snider allegedly refused to leave, became verbally aggressive, and returned after exiting, leading to further conflict. Officers said he appeared concerned he was released too soon.

A police report states Snider was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct, trespassing and making threats. He was later booked into the Salt Lake County Jail. Police also confirmed they are investigating a reported assault involving a 59-year-old man associated with the Commonwealth Room, though no further public details have been released and no suspects have been named.

The extent of Snider’s injuries has not been independently verified. His team has not updated their original statement, which framed the situation solely as an assault.

Fans have expressed confusion as the narrative continues to develop, with some noting differences between the venue statement, the tour announcement and police accounts. Snider’s camp has asked for privacy during his recovery and says new tour dates will be considered once his condition improves.

The investigation into both the reported assault and the hospital incident is ongoing.
