A 15-year-old girl was fatally shot early Saturday morning in Ogden, Utah. The victim was identified as a promising young student named Chanelle Alvarez. Law enforcement allege that her 16-year-old boyfriend, Hezekiah Plummer, pulled the trigger inside her bedroom around 3 a.m. while her family slept.
Court documents indicate that Plummer fled the home immediately after the shooting. When apprehended, authorities reportedly found over $4,000 in cash and several ounces of marijuana in his possession. He now faces charges of first-degree murder, obstruction of justice, and firearm theft.
The family described Chanelle as “full of life” with “so many dreams ahead of her.” In response to her death, they’ve launched a fundraising campaign to cover funeral expenses. Support resources for those experiencing domestic or adolescent violence have been emphasised as well.
