A man was found dead on Sunday morning in Tacoma, and police are now investigating the case as a homicide, according to the Tacoma Police Department.
Police were called to the 1200 block of South I Street around 9:40 a.m., following a report of an unresponsive male. When officers and the Tacoma Fire Department arrived, the man was found with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency crews.
Victim’s Identity Unknown
As of Sunday afternoon, Officer Shelbie Boyd confirmed that the man had been shot, but his age and identity have not yet been released. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still unclear.
Police Launch Full Homicide Investigation
A news release from the department stated, “Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians are actively investigating this incident as a homicide.” Officers are working to gather evidence and speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
