KAYSVILLE, Utah — A late-night rescue operation unfolded in Kaysville on Saturday after a person fell roughly 10 feet onto a roof, sustaining serious injuries to the head, neck, and back, according to the Kaysville Fire Department.
Complex Roof Rescue
In a statement shared on social media, Kaysville Fire said their A-Shift crew responded to a challenging rescue call involving an individual who fell from one roof onto another, leaving them stranded and injured.
“The incident presented a complex challenge for our team as they worked to maintain spinal immobilization while safely bringing the patient from the roof to the ground,” the department said.
To stabilize the patient, heavy rescue technicians secured the individual in a Stokes basket — a type of rescue stretcher designed for confined or elevated spaces. The team then requested assistance from the Layton Fire Department for their ladder truck to complete the operation.
Joint Effort Ensures Safe Recovery
Once the Layton Fire ladder truck arrived, crews attached the Stokes basket to the ladder’s bucket and carefully lowered the injured person to the ground. The Kaysville Police Department also assisted at the scene, ensuring the area was secure during the rescue.
“We extend our appreciation to Layton Fire and Kaysville Police for their assistance,” Kaysville Fire said. “Their teamwork was essential in ensuring a safe and efficient rescue. We wish the patient a full and healthy recovery and keep them in our thoughts.”
The patient’s identity and current condition have not been released. Authorities said no further information is available at this time.
