When Jesus cried out from the cross, it seemed like a cry of defeat. But hidden in His words was a powerful message. He was pointing back to Psalm 22—a prophecy written nearly 1,000 years earlier. His final words, “It is finished,” reflect the Hebrew word hasah, the same word that closes Psalm 22.
What looked like an ending was actually the fulfilment of God’s promise. Jesus wasn’t abandoned—He was completing the plan.
From Lower Story to Upper Story
That’s when I began to understand the “Upper Story”—God’s bigger picture. Even when life feels broken and confusing, He is still at work. There’s purpose in the pain, even if we can’t see it yet.
God is weaving a story through history—and through our lives—that connects everything. But to see it, we need to rise above the moment.
