'I'll Be Back, You Shall See' Man Attempted to Knife Stranger After Altercation Over Fake Air Jordans, Then Climbed Into a Doordash Driver's Car to Flee, Police Say

A Florida man is facing attempted murder charges after a bizarre confrontation over a pair of sneakers turned violent. The man, Jose Chacon Martinez, 34, allegedly tried to stab a stranger during an argument about whether the stranger’s Air Jordan sneakers were fake.

Argument Over Sneakers Escalates into Violence

According to police, the incident took place on December 17, 2025, when Martinez approached a group of younger men he didn’t know and accused one of them of wearing counterfeit shoes. He commented that he’d “never encountered a shoe where the name had been erased.” The owner of the sneakers explained that the wear and tear was due to “rain, sweat, and normal use.”

Things escalated quickly. When Martinez was told to leave, he allegedly became angry and said, “I’m going to go get my gun.” He walked toward his blue scooter, told the group, “I’ll be back, you shall see,” and rode off.

Surprise Attack Caught on Camera

Roughly 5–10 minutes later, the victim felt someone tap his shoulder. Expecting to see a friend, he turned—only to find Martinez holding a large kitchen knife. The victim immediately began recording with his phone.

Martinez allegedly swung the knife, knocking the phone from the victim’s hand. When the victim tried to retrieve it, Martinez reportedly lunged at him again, attempting to stab him in the face—but missed.

Suspect Flees in DoorDash Driver’s Car

After the attempted stabbing, Martinez fled the scene by jumping into the passenger seat of a red car driven by Gerdenson Rodriguez Ordonez, 28. Martinez continued to threaten the victim from inside the car as the man tried to keep recording him.

Ordonez, who works as a DoorDash driver, claimed he didn’t know Martinez personally but had encountered him earlier in the day. He said Martinez told him that Uber and DoorDash drivers were talking about him at a local Five Guys restaurant. Ordonez said he only went there to clear up the misunderstanding, stating he didn’t have problems with anyone.

Despite this, Ordonez was charged as an accessory for allowing Martinez into his car and driving off after witnessing the attempted stabbing. He is currently being held on an immigration hold and is scheduled to appear in court on January 20.

Martinez in Jail Without Bond

Martinez turned himself in to police a few days after the incident. During a court appearance, a judge ordered he be held without bond at Miami-Dade Corrections, also noting that Martinez is being detained on an immigration hold. His arraignment is scheduled for February 9.
