I Lost My Leg 7-Year-Old Injured and Missing Limb After Drunk Driver Rams Into Family's Car, Ejecting the Youngster and Flinging Him 60 Feet, Cops Say

A tragic incident in Dallas, Texas, left a 7-year-old boy, Saeed Abbasova, severely injured after a drunk driver crashed into his family’s vehicle. The collision ejected Saeed from the car, hurling him 60 feet, and left him mangled and missing a leg. Despite the severity of the crash, Saeed survived and is now recovering.

The Shocking Discovery

The crash took place on New Year’s Day while Saeed’s family was driving home after celebrating New Year’s Eve. His mother, Ruksara Abbasova, described the horrifying moment when she found her son. “When I saw him on the ground, I thought that I would lose him,” she told local Fox affiliate KDFW. She recalled seeing her son surrounded by a lot of blood, struggling to understand where the injuries were coming from.

“At first, I don’t understand what happened,” Abbasova recounted. “Where does the blood come from? From head? From back? From his internal organs? I don’t understand. But when I saw his whole body I understand that he [was missing] his leg.”

Details of the Crash and Aftermath

The 23-year-old driver, Michael McRae, was speeding and intoxicated when he collided with the Abbasova family’s car while they were on the Central Expressway. The crash caused the vehicle to flip, and Saeed was ejected. His leg was severely mangled in the process, and doctors were forced to perform an emergency amputation after Saeed was transported to a nearby hospital.

Saeed, who had just turned 8 years old days after the crash, told reporters, “I am so sad. I lost my leg.” However, despite the traumatic experience, the young boy expressed gratitude for surviving the crash. “The main thing is that I’m alive,” Saeed said. “I’m with you, mom. With my family. I know that I will be good. I will be better.”

McRae’s Reckless Driving

Witnesses reported seeing McRae weaving through traffic while speeding for several miles before the crash. Saeed was sitting in the back seat of the family vehicle during the collision. Abbasova recalled the moments immediately after the crash: “I saw my husband, I saw my daughter, I didn’t see my son,” she said. “Someone hit us, and after that, the car started to flip.”

Her heartbreak was evident as she shared the emotional toll the incident has taken on her: “It’s tragedy for me. Tragedy. Because do you know how to see your child in this condition? You want to take his pain to you, you want to take his injuries to you. But you can’t.”

McRae Faces Multiple Charges

McRae is currently facing several charges, including intoxication assault with serious bodily injury, failure to maintain financial responsibility, and resisting arrest. He is currently out on bond and awaiting his next court date, as reported by KDFW.

A Long Road to Recovery

Though the crash has left Saeed with life-altering injuries, his mother remains hopeful for his recovery. “I know that I will be good. I will be better,” Saeed said, showing his resilience despite the devastating circumstances.
