EngineHouse Opens Affordable Workforce Apartments in Park City, Utah

J. Fisher Companies marked a major milestone with the official opening of EngineHouse, a new affordable housing community located at 1875 Homestake Road, celebrated through a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by civic leaders and community partners.

A New Affordable Housing Community in Park City

The EngineHouse apartments introduce 123 newly built, pet-friendly rental homes designed to support affordable living in Park City. Residents can enjoy stunning views of Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley, and Historic Main Street.

Out of the total units, 99 apartments are deed-restricted, guaranteeing long-term affordability for 100 years, a key step in preserving workforce housing in the city.

Prime Downtown Location With Everyday Convenience

Developed on two acres of city-owned land, EngineHouse sits in the heart of downtown Park City. The location allows residents to walk easily to:

  • Grocery stores
  • Schools
  • Retail shops
  • Restaurants
  • Public bus routes

This central placement helps reduce commuting costs and supports a connected, car-light lifestyle for working families.

Apartment Features and Modern Amenities

EngineHouse offers one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, each equipped with in-unit washer and dryer facilities. The community is designed to meet the needs of families, professionals, and individuals through a wide range of amenities, including:

  • Fully equipped fitness center
  • Dedicated yoga room
  • Secure ski lockers
  • Children’s playroom
  • Co-working space
  • Large community clubhouse
  • Two game rooms for recreation and social use

A Project Rooted in Community and History

J. Fisher Companies CEO Owen Fisher emphasized the long-term purpose behind the development. He shared that his family history traces back to Scottish immigrants who worked in the Silver King mines during the 1800s, making the project deeply personal.

According to Fisher, EngineHouse reflects a collective effort to protect Park City’s workforce heritage and ensure affordable housing remains available for generations.

Strong Public and Private Partnerships

The project came together through collaboration with multiple organizations and agencies, including:

  • Park City Municipal Corporation
  • Summit County
  • Utah Housing Corporation
  • Utah’s Private Activity Bond Authority
  • Olene Walker Housing Loan Fund
  • Intermountain Health
  • Goldman Sachs
  • Citibank

J. Fisher Companies also confirmed partnerships with Intermountain Health and Park City Municipal Corporation to reserve units specifically for healthcare workers and city employees.

Leaders Speak on the Importance of Affordable Housing

The opening ceremony included remarks from Mayor Nann Worel, development partner Rory Murphy, Scott Maxfield of Goldman Sachs Urban Investment Group, Steve Waldrip, the Governor’s Senior Advisor for Housing Strategy, and senior leaders from J. Fisher Companies.

Mayor Worel highlighted that affordable housing in Park City directly supports teachers, first responders, service workers, and families who keep the city running daily.

Rory Murphy noted that with rising housing costs, EngineHouse plays a critical role in keeping working families in Park City for the next century.

Largest LIHTC Project in Park City

EngineHouse stands as the largest Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) development within Park City limits. These tax credits encourage developers to build housing for lower-income residents.

The project follows a 60% Area Median Income (AMI) eligibility requirement, meaning applicants must earn 60% or less of Utah’s AMI to qualify. Rental applications are currently open for eligible residents.
