The Cache County School District (CCSD) has officially named its two new middle schools — Ridgeline Canyon Middle School in Nibley and Summit View Middle School in North Logan — as part of its 2026 expansion plan.

The schools, each designed to hold about 1,200 students, are set to open in fall 2026. District officials say the additions will help relieve overcrowding and meet the needs of Cache Valley’s rapidly growing population.

The names were chosen from more than 400 community submissions, with the school board voting unanimously during its October meeting. Superintendent Steven Norton said the selections reflect “Cache Valley’s natural beauty and commitment to community-based education.”

Early Enrollment Now Open

Alongside the naming announcement, the district has opened early enrollment for the 2026–27 school year through its Parent Portal. Families can pre-register students, update records, and indicate school preferences to help the district finalize staffing and transportation plans.

District spokesperson Tim Smith said the early registration data will help balance class sizes and ensure smooth boundary transitions once the schools open.

Growth Driving Expansion

The projects were funded through a $150 million bond approved by voters in 2022. Cache County’s population has surged past 370,000, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, prompting new investments in education and infrastructure.

Both schools will include STEM labs, fine arts programs, and energy-efficient designs, aligning with Utah’s modern education standards. Construction is on schedule, with ribbon-cutting ceremonies planned for summer 2026.

The district will release new boundary maps and host community meetings in 2025 to help families prepare for the transition.
