A Boise woman, Farida Joel Mathew, aged 24, has been sentenced to ten years in prison following a violent home invasion that occurred in 2024 and left another woman with serious injuries. The ruling was delivered on Thursday, October 23, by Ada County District Judge Richard Greenwood, who described the assault as a “horrific attack.”

Judge Greenwood imposed a unified 10-year prison term, consisting of 2 years fixed and 8 years indeterminate, giving Mathew the possibility of parole after serving the initial period.
Additionally, the judge ordered Mathew to participate in the Idaho Department of Correction’s rider program and issued a no-contact order to protect the victim from future interaction.

According to the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office, the incident took place in North End Boise. Mathew forced her way into the victim’s home before launching a brutal assault. Investigators confirmed that although Mathew and the victim had met once before, they did not share any personal relationship.
Once inside, Mathew confronted the woman with false accusations and then stabbed her multiple times. Despite her serious wounds, the victim managed to flee the house and seek help from neighbors, which ultimately saved her life.
