A tragic road accident in San Jose has claimed the life of a woman, making it the city’s third pedestrian death of 2026. The incident, which happened early in the morning on February 7, is currently under investigation by local police.
Woman Killed in Early Morning Hit-and-Run
The fatal hit-and-run crash occurred near the intersection of Capitol Avenue and Longford Drive in San Jose. According to the San Jose Police Department (SJPD), the woman was not using a marked crosswalk while she was crossing the road.
Officers were called to the scene at around 6:20 a.m. Unfortunately, by the time police arrived, the driver and the vehicle involved had already left the scene.

SJPD said that the vehicle—driven by an unknown person—was heading northbound on Capitol Avenue when it hit the pedestrian. The impact left the woman severely injured. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later died due to her injuries.
As of now, authorities have not revealed the name or identity of the victim, and the search for the driver is still ongoing.
