A sad accident happened on Monday in Tumwater, where a woman was killed after being hit by a vehicle in a grocery store parking lot, police said.
What Happened
According to Lt. Jen Kolb from the Tumwater Police Department, officers were sent to the parking lot at 520 Cleveland Ave. at 11:47 a.m. on January 12. They responded to a report of a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Police say a 51‑year‑old man driving a car struck a 70‑year‑old woman in the parking area. Lt. Kolb said the driver “just didn’t see her,” and called the incident an unfortunate and sad accident.
No Arrest or Impairment Involved
Officials confirmed that no one was arrested in connection with the crash. Police also said there was no sign of DUI (driving under the influence) or any other kind of impairment by the driver.
The Tumwater Police Department worked with the Washington State Patrol to investigate the incident further on Monday afternoon.
Victim’s Identity Not Yet Released
At this time, authorities have not shared the name of the woman who died in the accident. Her family and community are waiting for more information and support during this difficult time.
