Ryan J. Rampton, 58, accused of crimes while serving in Roy
A firefighter with the Roy City Fire Department remains jailed after being charged with multiple first-degree felonies involving a child, according to court filings. The case is drawing attention across Weber and Davis counties.

Rampton is charged with two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child and one count of sodomy on a child. Authorities say the alleged abuses occurred between 2013 and 2017. The victim initially reported concerns in 2017 but remained reluctant to provide full statements at that time.

Court documents reveal that the now-teenaged victim came forward again in March 2025, expressing a desire to prevent other possible victims.

During a hearing on October 24, 2025, Second District Judge Blaine Rawson denied bail for Rampton, citing the need to protect the victim and ensure public safety.

In response to the charges, the Roy City Fire Department placed Rampton on administrative leave pending internal review and law-enforcement cooperation. Fire Chief Theron Williams issued a statement indicating that appropriate personnel and policy processes are being followed.

Prosecutors flagged additional concerns: Rampton reportedly ran a home photography business where young girls changed into costumes for sessions, according to official allegations.

The next court appearance is scheduled for November 2025. Legal outcomes depend on further investigation and potential additional charges.

Residents and parents in Roy are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any concerns to local law-enforcement or child-protection hotlines.
