Catherine O’Hara, the beloved actress known for her iconic roles in Schitt’s Creek, Home Alone, and Beetlejuice, passed away on January 30 at the age of 71. TMZ reported that O’Hara was rushed to the hospital in serious condition on the morning of January 30, as she was struggling to breathe. Sadly, she did not survive.

After her death, her talent agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA) shared that she passed away at her home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, after a short illness. Catherine was actively working before her passing. She was set to shoot scenes for Season 2 of The Studio, a comedy series on Apple TV+. Her last two acting projects were The Studio and Season 2 of The Last of Us. She was nominated for both roles at the 2025 Emmy Awards. Though she didn’t win, The Studio took home the award for Outstanding Comedy Series. Actor Seth Rogen, who worked with her, paid tribute to her on Instagram, saying, “She made me want to make our show good enough to be worthy of her presence in it.”
