The Olympia Police Department is investigating a heartbreaking incident that left three people dead from apparent gunshot wounds at a home in Olympia on Saturday, February 7. Authorities are currently treating the case as a possible murder-suicide.
Tragic Discovery at Olympia Residence
At around 10:37 a.m. on Saturday, Olympia Police officers responded to reports of an argument followed by gunfire at a residence in the 2300 block of 19th Court Northwest. When officers arrived, they found three individuals deceased, all with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
Victims Identified by Age
The Thurston County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the victims are a 66-year-old woman, a 79-year-old woman, and a 70-year-old man. Their names have not been released, as next-of-kin notifications are still in progress.
Autopsies were scheduled to take place on Tuesday, February 10, to help determine the exact cause and manner of death.
No Ongoing Threat to Community
According to Olympia Police Lt. Paul Lower, there is no indication of any outstanding suspects or continued danger to the public. This assessment has remained unchanged as the investigation progressed over the weekend.
“What exactly happened there, we’re still working through with the forensic team,” Lower said on Monday.
Investigation Continues with Forensic Teams
The Olympia Police Department is now working alongside the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab and the Thurston County Coroner’s Office to complete a full forensic analysis. Investigators say it will likely take time before they fully understand what happened on February 7, as they await autopsy results and lab testing of the evidence collected.
