Texas woman arrested for shooting husband after alleged domestic violence
Sandy Micheal Williams, 45, was taken into custody on Monday, a day after police were called to her home by her father-in-law. Authorities say he reported that his daughter-in-law had shot his son, 46-year-old Michael C. Thomas.
When officers arrived around 10 p.m., they found Thomas dead at the scene with several gunshot wounds. Williams met police at the door and cooperated with them as they took her into custody. She was taken to the Wise County Sheriff’s Office for questioning.
A history of warning leads to a deadly outcome
According to court documents shared by WFAA, Williams had reportedly told her husband in the past that if he ever laid a hand on her, it would be the last time he did so. During police questioning, she admitted that she meant every word of that warning.
Williams said she and Thomas had been married for three years and had gotten into a heated argument that Sunday. She claimed the argument turned physical when Thomas grabbed her by the ponytail and pulled her to the floor. After the incident, he went upstairs. Williams then retrieved a firearm, followed him, and shot him.
Confession and motive revealed
Williams told police, “My intent was exactly what I did.” When asked if she had planned to kill her husband, she reportedly said, “I absolutely hoped I would.”
Emergency responders pronounced Thomas dead at the scene.
Murder charge and ongoing investigation
Williams was charged with murder and booked into the Wise County Jail. Her bond has been set at $50,000. At the time of reporting, her next court date had not been released to the public.
