A shocking discovery was made in Brooklyn after workers found the dismembered body of a woman inside an apartment building’s garbage room, prompting an ongoing police investigation.
Gruesome Discovery Near Trash Compactor
On February 1, New York City Housing Authority workers noticed a plastic trash bag near a garbage compactor inside an apartment building. When they tried to move it, they realised it was unusually heavy.
After opening the bag, they discovered dismembered human remains. A neighbour said the workers began screaming after seeing what was inside. He told local media that when the bag was opened, the woman’s head was visible.
Victim Identified as Michelle Montgomery
On February 2, police identified the victim as Michelle Montgomery, a 39-year-old mother of four. Reports say her youngest child is just 10 months old.
Montgomery worked overnight shifts at Amazon and was last seen around 11:30 p.m. the night before her body was found.
Last Seen at Local Restaurant
According to friends, Montgomery was last seen dancing with two unidentified people at Mama Tacos, a local spot in Brooklyn. A friend noted that Montgomery usually tagged people in her social media posts, but the individuals seen with her that night are unknown.
This detail has raised more questions for investigators as they work to trace her final movements.
Husband Pleads for Justice
Montgomery’s husband, Anthony Echevarria, has publicly asked for answers. He said the most important thing now is uncovering the truth so the person responsible can be held accountable.
Investigation Still Ongoing
Police have confirmed that no arrests have been made so far. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death as part of the investigation.
Authorities continue to gather evidence and are asking anyone with information to come forward as they work to solve this disturbing case.
