AZLE, TX — Kruz Dean Wanser, a fugitive wanted in connection to the suspicious death of Margaret Pennington, was arrested Thursday by the Azle Police Department. Wanser was on the run after Pennington, 37, was found deceased inside an Azle residence on Sunday, January 11, 2026.
Although the cause of Pennington’s death is still pending, the circumstances surrounding her death were deemed suspicious, leading authorities to seek Wanser’s arrest. He has been charged with tampering or fabricating physical evidence, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and parole violation.
A chilling detail about Wanser’s arrest came from his booking photo, in which he was seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt emblazoned with a provocative message. The sweatshirt read: “I will put you in a trunk and help people look for you”, followed by the phrase “Stop playing with me” in a whimsical font.
Wanser’s criminal history includes previous charges for possession of a controlled substance, manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, and evading arrest with a vehicle, according to Tarrant County records.
