Levi Solomua, a 44-year-old man from Lakewood, has been formally charged with second-degree assault constituting domestic violence after an alleged incident involving another patient at a behavioral health treatment facility in Chehalis.
The charge was filed on Tuesday, January 13, following the altercation that reportedly took place at the American Behavioral Health Systems (ABHS) treatment center. According to court documents, Solomua is accused of physically attacking a fellow patient during his stay at the facility.
Criminal History and Bail Decision
During his first court appearance in Lewis County Superior Court, Judge J. Andrew Toynbee approved the state’s request for a $150,000 bail. The decision was based in part on Solomua’s criminal history and current legal status.
Records show that Solomua is currently under community custody with the Washington State Department of Corrections. His criminal record includes serious felony convictions such as:
- Drive-by shooting
- First-degree burglary
- Other felony offenses
Given this background, the court considered him a potential risk if released without strict conditions.
Next Steps in the Legal Process
Solomua is scheduled for arraignment on January 15, where he is expected to enter a plea. The arraignment will also determine whether the case will proceed to trial or enter a plea negotiation phase.
Facility Incident Raises Concerns
The ABHS facility in Chehalis, where the incident occurred, is one of several centers in the region that offer inpatient treatment for behavioral and mental health needs. Incidents like this often raise concerns about the safety and supervision of both patients and staff in such environments, especially when individuals with violent criminal histories are undergoing treatment.
