Rocky Mountain Power reported that a large outage early Wednesday impacted communities across Utah County. According to the company’s outage map, 26 separate outages were active at one point, affecting 19,896 customers.

The company confirmed that damaged power lines were the source of the disruption.

The outage was initially logged at 7:12 a.m., catching many morning commuters and households off guard. As crews began repairs, updates from Rocky Mountain Power helped residents track the progress of restoration efforts.

Communities Affected Across Utah County

In a social media update, the utility provider said the outage impacted several areas, including:

  • Saratoga Springs
  • Vineyard
  • Pleasant Grove
  • Lindon

“We are aware of scattered outages in Utah County, affecting 19,892 customers. We are investigating the cause. Thank you for your patience while our crews work to restore service as soon as possible,” the company posted.

Restoration Progress

By late morning, the utility company reported that only 37 customers remained without power, marking a major improvement from the nearly 20,000 initially affected.

Traffic and Transit Disruptions Reported

Traffic Signals Affected Across Saratoga Springs

The Saratoga Springs Police Department alerted the public that the outage caused several traffic signals to malfunction. Officials reminded drivers that any intersection with non-functioning traffic lights must be treated as a four-way stop to prevent accidents.

FrontRunner Train Delays

The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) also experienced delays on the FrontRunner line, particularly near the Vineyard Station. Delays were estimated to be 15 to 20 minutes as crews worked to resolve the outage.

Wednesday morning’s power outage in Utah County caused significant disruption for nearly 20,000 residents and commuters. Damaged power lines triggered dozens of outages, affecting households, traffic systems, and public transit.
