Early unofficial returns from the 2025 Salt Lake County mayoral elections show most incumbent mayors leading in nine suburban communities across the county, indicating voter confidence in established leadership into the next term starting January.
In Bluffdale, incumbent Natalie Hall led with just over 51% against challenger Connie Pavlakis, who emphasized increasing governmental engagement. Brighton’s mayoral race saw Scotty John holding a commanding 77% over Nathaniel Dunlap, who focused his campaign on wildfire risk mitigation.
Cottonwood Heights witnessed a competitive contest with challenger Gay Lynn Bennion at 56.6% and Mayor Mike Weichers at 43.5%, where Weichers campaigned as a budget hawk and Bennion prioritized balancing growth and conservation efforts.
Incumbent Draper Mayor Troy Walker maintained a wide lead at 73.3% against Braxten Rutherford, highlighting concerns over expanding municipal commercial base as a budget solution. Herriman’s Lorin Palmer was favored with more than 74% over challenger Ty Brady, focusing on addressing misinformation and economic growth.
In Holladay, Paul Fotheringham led with 57.5% over Daren Watts, campaigning on revitalizing the suburb’s character. Kearns saw a tight race between Jesse Valdez with 50.6% and Tina Marie Snow at 49.4%, with Valdez focusing on community connectivity and Snow on maintaining vital local programs.
Mick Sudbury led Magna with nearly 68%, campaigning on preserving essential services, while Midvale Mayor Dustin Gettel led with 63%, emphasizing public safety.
Other notable leads included Sandy Mayor Monica Zoltanski at 59%, South Jordan Mayor Dawn Ramsey at 83%, South Salt Lake Mayor Cherie Wood with 66%, and West Valley City Mayor Karen Lang at 76.8%. In White City, Allan Perry led against incumbent Paulina Flint with 61.4% of early votes.
Key voter concerns across these suburbs included public safety, housing affordability, economic development, and managing growth sustainably.
