Social Security payments for November 2025 will continue as scheduled despite the recent federal government shutdown. The Social Security Administration (SSA) confirmed that retirement, disability, survivors, and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments will be deposited on time.
The payment dates in November 2025 are based on recipients’ birth dates, following the SSA’s standard monthly schedule:
- For those born from the 1st to the 10th of the month, payment will arrive on Wednesday, November 13.
- For birth dates between the 11th and 20th, the payment date is Wednesday, November 20.
- For birthdates from the 21st through the 31st, payments are scheduled for Wednesday, November 27.
- SSI recipients received their November payment early, on Friday, October 31, because November 1 falls on a weekend.
Payments are funded by the Social Security Trust Funds, which operate independently of the annual federal budget, so they are not affected by government shutdowns. While benefits will continue uninterrupted, some SSA services may experience delays, including slower phone support and postponed processing of certain claims and verifications.
The SSA encourages beneficiaries to use the online mySocialSecurity account to manage their benefits and avoid delays caused by reduced office staffing during the shutdown.
Recipients can expect direct deposits to reach bank accounts by 9 a.m. local time on payment days. Paper checks may take an additional 3-5 days depending on postal service efficiency.
