A motorcyclist was killed Sunday evening in Taylorsville after a car fleeing an earlier crash collided with him, according to the Taylorsville Police Department.
The first collision occurred around 6:06 p.m. near 5400 South and Redwood Road, police said. One of the drivers involved, an adult man, fled that scene before striking a motorcyclist at 5400 South and Warrior Way moments later.
Lt. Aaron Cheshire of the Taylorsville Police confirmed that the motorcyclist, an adult male, died at the scene from his injuries. Witnesses followed the fleeing vehicle, allowing officers to locate and arrest the suspect near 6200 South and Redwood Road.
Authorities are investigating impaired driving as a potential factor in both crashes. No other individuals were injured, though police have not confirmed whether the suspect sustained any injuries.
Following the collision, 5400 South between Redwood Road and 1300 West was temporarily closed while investigators processed the scene.
The incident remains under active investigation, and updates are expected as more information becomes available.
