Phoenix, Ariz. — Devin Booker put on a show Friday night, scoring 36 points and dishing out nine assists to lead the Phoenix Suns to a decisive 118–96 victory over the Utah Jazz in NBA Cup group play.
The win snapped a four-game losing streak for Phoenix and gave fans a reminder of Booker’s elite scoring touch. The three-time All-Star set the tone early, torching Utah’s defense with smooth mid-range shots and pinpoint passes that kept the Suns in control from start to finish.
Suns Dominate Early and Never Look Back
Phoenix wasted no time taking command, exploding for 37 points in the first quarter while holding the Jazz to just 17. By halftime, the Suns had built a 54–40 lead, and they continued to widen the gap as the game wore on.
Grayson Allen added 14 points, while Royce O’Neale and rookie Ryan Dunn chipped in 13 each. Dunn also grabbed 10 rebounds, recording his first double-double of the season.
Booker’s leadership and composure were evident as he orchestrated a nearly turnover-free game for Phoenix, who committed just nine turnovers compared to Utah’s 21.
Markkanen Shines Again for Utah
Despite the loss, Lauri Markkanen continued his strong form for the Jazz, scoring 33 points — his fourth consecutive game with at least 30. Rookie guard Keyonte George filled up the stat sheet with 17 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists, narrowly missing a triple-double.
Big man Walker Kessler led Utah on the boards with 13 rebounds, but the Jazz struggled to generate consistent offense or slow down Phoenix’s rhythm.
What’s Next
The Suns will stay home to face the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, hoping to build on their momentum. The Jazz, meanwhile, continue their road trip with a matchup against the Charlotte Hornets the same night.
With Booker back in form and Phoenix regaining its confidence, the Suns appear ready to climb back into the Western Conference mix — while the Jazz look to regroup after a tough loss on the road.
